Big Brothers Big Sisters has four major fundraisers annually. They are: Bowl for Kids' Sake, Homes with Heart, Little Moments~Big Magic, and the Dos Mosca Fly Fishing Tournament.

13th Annual Dos Mosca Fly Fishing Tournament

The 2009 fly fishing fundraiser was held August 6-8. The DOS MOSCA “Two Fly” Tournament is held in beautiful Durango located in Southwest Colorado on the south slope of the San Juan Mountains surrounded by the San Juan National Forest. While the fishing event affords us an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Rio de las Animas Perdidas – River of Lost Souls – and the beautiful Animas Valley, the primary purpose is a prominent revenue generating event for Big Brother Big Sisters (BBBS) of Southwest Colorado.

Bowl For Kids' Sake 2010

Our 2010 Bowl For Kids' Sake (BFKS) Campaign is an important fundraiser for our agency. Community members from La Plata and Archuleta Counties will bowl for the kids, and we hope you'll join us! This year's BFKS Campaign will run from January 1 through March 19, with a BIG thank you bowling party on March 20 at Sky Ute Rolling Thunder Lanes in Ignacio. Everyone involved with this fundraiser, from committee members to all who participate by collecting donations, will enjoy a fun hour of bowling at this beautiful state-of-the-art bowling alley.

The Springs Resort and Spa in Pagosa Spring is our Platinum Sponsor for this great event! Sky Ute Casino Resort will be our host and a Gold Sponsor, and our long-time supporter, First National Bank of Durango, will also be a Gold Sponsor for this exciting and important Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraiser.

LITTLE MOMENTS ~ BIG MAGIC
In May we hold an information breakfast and invite community members to come and learn about our agency. We have volunteer Mentors, children and parents come and share their experiences and what impact the programs have had on their lives. We explain how our agency works, what our community needs are, and how we can fulfill those needs. We hope our guests are inspired with the presentation and will become long-term supporters of BBBS by making an annual pledge for up to five years. Many who have attended have expressed how much they learned during the breakfast and also how hearing from actual "Bigs" and parents made them realize the impact a mentor can have on a child.

Throughout the year, we also have smaller information sessions right at our office. If you'd be interested in attending one of these sessions, please give us a call.

Win a “Picture Perfect” Playhouse

Big Brothers Big Sisters is once again giving away its Homes with Heart playhouse to one lucky winner. This creatively designed, one-of-a-kind custom-built playhouse was completed by Durango High School Architecture, Woods, Welding, TV/Video Production and National Art Honor Society students. Woods teacher, Shaun Smith, says, “The importance of this project, from the students’ perspective, is seen as a valuable means to contribute to the local community that coincides with learning about carpentry and residential construction methods while resulting in having fun building the playhouse.”

This split-level playhouse includes tile floors, a back deck, stained glass window, unique metal door and many more custom touches. Be sure to visit the house on display in the Kroegers / South City Market parking lot from November 22^nd through December 23^rd. Just in time for the holidays, Santa will be at the playhouse on December 23^rd at 3 p.m. to draw the name of one lucky winner!

For only $10 you will have four opportunities to put your name into this very special playhouse drawing. Locations to purchase your tickets are Alpine Bank, Kroegers Ace Hardware, South City Market and of course at the playhouse.

All monies received from this event goes to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado. During the past 25 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has assisted over 2,800 children and their families in La Plata and Archuleta Counties, through their Community-based and School-based Mentoring Programs.
